You can be so interested in great theological and intellectual and philosophical problems that you tend to forget that you are going to die.

Is this forgetfulness good, bad, or both? Why?

And you can be so interested in personal holiness that you fall into the dark, pharasaic hole of forgetting you ever sinned.
But back to the quote at hand. If, in fact, you are properly interested in theology, you may be inclined to be assured of the fact you will live forever...
That thought sounds quite prescriptive. Kind of like to have that assurance you have to have "good theology" - another subjective phrase.
What I want to know is: why do we (I) try to combat our (my) dread of having a bad day with applying the anesthesia of lofty thoughts?
And what I ultimately would like to say is: Good reminder. Thanks for sharing it.
